# Mini golf with friends, online

PUTTLE is a free 3D mini-golf game you can play **with friends online** at [https://puttle.golf](https://puttle.golf/) — head to head in a **live 1v1**, or on your own time against the same daily course. It runs in the browser: no download, no account, no voice chat.

## Live 1v1: one course, both at once

**⚔️ Live 1v1** sets up a five-hole course for two players who putt it at the same time. Your friend's ball is orange, with their name over it and an aim arrow while they line up; you watch it roll, stroke for stroke, and they watch yours. The HUD keeps their running total (⚔️) through the holes they've finished, and a bar shows which hole they're on.

1. Open [https://puttle.golf](https://puttle.golf/) and tap **⚔️ Live 1v1 with a friend** on the title screen.
2. Pick a world (or 🎲 Any), check the name your friend will see, and tap **⚔️ Start a battle**.
3. Tap **📣 Send the invite** and send the link — it carries a 6-letter battle code — by text, chat or email.
4. When your friend opens it, you're on the same five holes. The course starts as soon as either of you tees off.
5. Putt as usual. Send an emote with 💬, or tap 👀 to follow their ball on their hole.
6. After the fifth hole the results show both cards and who won. **⚔️ Rematch** sets up another course.

A 1v1 is two players: anyone else who opens the link is told the battle is full and can start their own. It's a practice course, so it doesn't touch either streak or the leaderboard. The invite lasts two days, a reload picks the battle up where you left it, and it needs a connection the whole way.

## Ghost races on the daily

The daily course is the same for everyone on that local date, so friends don't need to play at the same moment. Share your result and the link carries your round as a **ghost**: a friend who opens it plays today's course with your ghost ball putting alongside theirs — your first putt when they take their first, and so on — with a 👻 running total and a verdict on their results card.

Opening a friend's link also makes you **rivals**. From then on their ghost races first whenever they've played, the title says how they did today, and your results keep the head-to-head over the days you've both played. Strangers race too: today's course brings up to five other players' ghosts — the day's best two and the three newest — as fainter balls tagged with names. Turn the crowd off in the pause menu if you'd rather putt alone.

## Crews and the Weekly Open

For a group — a family, a class, an office — start a **friends crew** on the leaderboard's 🤝 Friends tab. It gets a 6-letter code, **📣 Invite friends** sends it, and the crew has its own board every day. The **🏆 Weekly Open** adds each player's daily cards from Monday to Sunday — more rounds first, so play all seven to contend, then the lowest total to par — for everyone and for your crew. Display names are at most 16 characters, and nobody needs an account.

## Build a hole for a friend

The **🛠 Hole Builder** in the World Tour lets you design a hole from toys, turns and a green, then send it as a challenge link: whoever opens it plays your hole and sees its par. More: [build your own mini golf hole](https://puttle.golf/hole-builder).

## What it isn't

There's no matchmaking with strangers and no voice or text chat — a 1v1 has emotes only. A live match is two players, and there's no pass-and-play on one screen; for a bigger group, share the daily and use a crew board or the Weekly Open. Boards are honor-system, but the server keeps each day's official par. What is stored: [Privacy](https://puttle.golf/privacy). How strokes add up: [PUTTLE scoring](https://puttle.golf/scoring).
