PUTTLE scoring
PUTTLE scoring is stroke play versus par on a shared 5-hole daily. Lower is better. Play at https://puttle.golf.
Round score
Add the strokes from all 5 holes and compare that total to the course par. Each hole's par is between 2 and 5. Under par is better. Over par is extra strokes.
E means even — exactly par for the round. The HUD shows your running total the same way: E, −2, +1.
The honor-system leaderboard ranks players by that stroke total. The server stores the official par for the day, so score-to-par is not something a client can fake.
The Weekly Open adds your posted daily totals from Monday to Sunday into one score to par. Players with more rounds rank first, then the lowest total, so you have to play all seven days to win the week. Each row shows the week as seven squares, one per day, and you can see a friends crew's week too. Every board in one place: leaderboards at a glance.
The Monthly Major is stroke play versus par too, over nine holes: one course a calendar month, the same for everyone, with a board of its own ranked by fewest strokes. Your first round is the one that counts, and it never touches your daily card or your streak.
Hole scores
Each hole has its own par. After you hole out, PUTTLE names the result from how many strokes you took versus that par:
- Hole in one — holed from the tee. Marked with a gold ★.
- Albatross — three or more under par.
- Eagle — two under par.
- Birdie — one under par.
- Par — exactly the target.
- Bogey — one over.
- Double bogey — two over.
- +3 or more — shown as the raw over-par number.
The scorecard uses golf notation: ○ birdie, ◎ eagle or better, □ bogey, ▣ double bogey or worse, and a gold ★ for a hole in one. Between holes a scorecard ticket slides up with the hole just played and your running total.
What counts as a stroke
Every putt counts. Rolling off the island costs +1 stroke, then you play again from where you putted. Being swept over a creek's waterfall or swallowed by a vortex counts the same way. There is no water hazard to fish out of — the edge is the trap. Everything that can cost a stroke: PUTTLE hazards.
If a hole reaches four over par without the ball dropping, PUTTLE shows Pick up and scores the hole at par + 4. Those strokes still count. It keeps one runaway hole from eating the round.
You get one mulligan a round. After a putt stops, or drops off the island, ↩︎ Mulligan (or the U key) takes it back: the stroke and any penalty come off, and the ball returns to where you putted from. Everyone has the same one, so cards stay comparable; there is none in a live room or a one-hole challenge. Every other putt you release is a putt you take; letting go near where you started the pull cancels it instead.
What does not change your score
These never add or subtract strokes:
- Gems — one optional gem per hole, on the daring line. They go into your Locker bank and unlock balls and trails.
- The daily goal — one bonus goal per daily, such as threading the gold pipe or finishing with no bogeys. Completing it pays +2 gems and adds 🎯 to your share card. More: the daily course.
- Trophies — tricks like a bank shot off two rails or three bumpers in one putt pay gems once.
- A friend's ghost — racing it decides who won, not what you scored.
- Worlds, moods, ball skins, and trails.
Moving toys, sand, ice, slopes, and launchers change how the ball rolls, not the math.
Daily vs practice
The daily is one official attempt at today's shared course. A checkpoint saves an in-progress daily if you close the tab. Your card counts toward your streak, which PUTTLE shares with PUTTLE Classic.
The World Tour is practice: three courses per world, unlocked in order. Each is scored in stars — ★ for finishing, ★★ for par or better, ★★★ for three under par. Every world also deals random practice courses, and 📅 Past dailies replays any earlier day's course. Practice never touches your streak or the daily leaderboard.
What is a good score?
Par is set to what a good player shoots, so E (even par) is a solid round and anything under par is a good one. A course is usually par 19 to 21: the opener is a par 3, holes 2 and 3 are usually par 3 or 4, hole 4 is usually par 4 or 5, and the finale is usually a par 5 — a par 4 on some days (the first is daily #126, 4 October 2026), when a loop's launch strip or the Gamble's gold ring takes enough off it. Every Sunday Signature finale is a par 5. On the first Design Day courses (dailies #121 and #122, late September 2026), the middle posted round on the leaderboard was about even par, and a little over half of the posted rounds were at or under par. The best card on #122 was 9 under.
The share card
After the daily, Share result posts a Wordle-style card: the day number and world, your total to par, gems out of five, a 🎯 if you made the goal, each hole's toy icon, and one colored square per hole — 🌟 ace, 🟣 eagle or better, 🟢 birdie, ⚪ par, 🟠 bogey, 🔴 double bogey or worse. It never shows your lines. The link carries your round as a ghost for friends to race.
