PUTTLE scoring
PUTTLE scoring is stroke play versus par on a shared 5-hole daily. Lower is better. Play at puttle.golf.
Round score
Add the strokes from all 5 holes and compare that total to the course par. Under par is better. Over par is extra strokes. E means even — exactly par for the round.
The honor-system leaderboard ranks players by that stroke total. The server stores the official par for the day, so score-to-par is not something a client can fake.
Hole scores
Each hole has its own par. After you hole out, PUTTLE names the result from how many strokes you took versus that par:
- Ace — holed in one.
- Albatross — three under par.
- Eagle — two under par.
- Birdie — one under par.
- Par — exactly the target.
- Bogey — one over.
- Double bogey — two over.
- +3 or more — shown as the raw over-par number.
Holing a putt off a rail is a bank shot. It is a flourish, not a scoring bonus — the stroke count does not change.
What counts as a stroke
Every putt counts. A splash in water costs +1 stroke, then you replay from where you last putted. If Pick up appears (two over par), PUTTLE ends the hole with those strokes — a double bogey, not a walk-off eagle — and moves on. Those strokes still count.
Undo takes back only your last putt. It does not add a stroke; it restores the ball and the stroke count to the previous rest spot.
A round with zero undos is a clean card. Results and the share name it. Undo stays free. The badge never changes strokes, par, or the board.
What does not change your score
These never add or subtract strokes:
- Gems (five per daily). Collect all five on one daily to unlock the Sapphire ball.
- The Director's Challenge (an optional extra goal on the daily). Clearing it is a badge, not a score change.
- The week-long extra on the title and in Stats (for example bank 3 putts this week). Also score-neutral.
- Seasonal themes, worlds, and cosmetics.
Hazards other than water change how the ball rolls, not the math: sand slows, ice glides, slopes curve, speed strips accelerate, rails and posts bank.
Daily vs practice
The daily is one official attempt at today’s shared course. A checkpoint saves an in-progress daily if you close the tab. After you finish, Practice this course retries the same holes with no streak or board. Practice is otherwise unlimited random layouts and does not affect your streak or the daily leaderboard. First-time PLAY TODAY starts on a one-hole RANGE that does not count as the daily.
